Who we are: Advanced Radiology Services is one of the largest physician-owned radiology practices in the country. Our growing practice includes 214 radiologists, 44 advanced practice providers, and more than 200 employees providing administrative support in our wholly owned subsidiary STARS. We provide services to more than 60 different sites across the state of Michigan.
What we are looking for: The Coding Specialist is responsible for the coding research required to obtain supportive clinical indications for radiology exams and to establish contact with either radiologists or facility staff in order to obtain corrections to radiology reports that are not billable due to dictation or other report errors.
Responsibilities:
· Review dictated radiology reports and apply appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes; paper code when necessary.
· Maintain pended document queues and ensure timely release of pended documents.
· Research supportive documentation from patients’ medical records and/or referring doctors to find clinical indications for a radiology exam.
· Make necessary corrections in the billing system for coding errors found via internal or external coding audit process.
· Correspond with doctors, referring doctors’ office staff and facility office staff to resolve radiology exam coding issues.
· Research Medicare denials.
Requirements:
- Associates degree and RCC/Coding certification preferred; basic ICD-10; CPT; and Anatomy *Interventional Radiology Coding experience a plus
- Minimum of two years of medical billing and coding experience
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Demonstrated capability in maintaining strict confidentiality with patient information
- Strong computer skills including billing/coding systems and intermediate Excel skills
