Must-Haves:
- 7+ years of related experience with a strong technical background in plastics manufacturing and processing (extrusion, thermoforming, and tooling)
- Experience in consumer-based food packaging is a plus
- B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Polymer Science
- Working knowledge of resins, additives, coatings, and laminates
- Experience in a manufacturing environment with proven results leading capital projects, working with OEMs and suppliers
Job Description:
This position reports to the R&D Director for the Thermoformed Packaging division and involves developing, designing, and qualifying new thermoplastic materials and processes for our end-use markets. The individual will be key in identifying sustainable packaging solutions, leveraging technical knowledge of polymer technologies to manage and execute projects from development to commercialization. The candidate must be an expert in plastics extrusion, thermoforming, and material handling, with a solid understanding of thermoplastics' thermal, mechanical, and rheological properties. The role includes identifying growth opportunities and driving projects to enhance productivity, capacity, and efficiency across manufacturing plants.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Serve as a subject matter expert in processing plastic materials for consumer packaging
- Provide expertise and recommendations on manufacturing equipment to support current business and future growth
- Address internal and external customer needs and packaging opportunities in a manufacturing setting
- Manage the technical integration of projects through collaboration with internal cross-functional teams, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers, solving complex problems to enhance product performance
- Originate new ideas to support the R&D product innovation and technology strategy
- Foster a positive, safe work environment through open communication and teamwork
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures to protect all employees
- Travel up to 30%, mostly domestic

Pay: $104,325.00 - $125,190.00 per year
