Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Ironworker to join our team. As an Ironworker, you will be responsible for fabricating, welding, and installing structural steel components. This is a physically demanding role that requires excellent mechanical knowledge and the ability to work with various tools and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Steel Structure Assembly: Fabricate and install steel beams, columns, and other structural components according to blueprints and specifications.
- Welding and Cutting: Use cutting torches and welding equipment to shape and join steel components accurately.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures to mitigate risks associated with working in hazardous environments.
- Equipment Operation: Operate machinery and equipment such as cranes, hoists, and forklifts to lift and position heavy steel components.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished structures to ensure they meet project requirements and industry standards.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other construction professionals, including engineers, welders, and riggers, to complete projects efficiently and safely.
- Maintenance and Repair: Perform maintenance and repair tasks on existing steel structures to ensure their integrity and longevity.
- Adaptability: Be willing to work at heights and in challenging conditions typical of oil and gas construction sites.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered during construction activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience as an ironworker in industrial settings, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
- Certifications: Possession of relevant certifications such as welding certifications (e.g., AWS) and safety training (e.g., OSHA).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, using welding and cutting equipment, and operating heavy machinery.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy objects, work at heights, and withstand exposure to various weather conditions.
- Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to following safety guidelines and protocols at all times.
Work Environment:
Ironworkers in the oil and gas industry typically work on construction sites, including refineries, pipelines, drilling platforms, and processing facilities. The work may involve travel to remote locations and irregular hours to meet project deadlines.
