Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Job Developer to join our team. This role involves providing ongoing support to program participants from the beginning of their journey with HANDY Inc through to successful job placements. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain strategic partnerships, assist in job readiness training, and ensure our youth are connected to meaningful career opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain partnerships in both public and private sectors to create career opportunities aligned with participants’ interests and goals.
- Assist staff and participants in scheduling career-related activities such as guest speakers, site visits, job shadowing, and informational interviews.
- Facilitate job clubs and oversee the internship program for participants.
- Conduct interviews with youths to understand their job and career goals.
- Plan and organize job search skills workshops, including interviewing techniques, resume preparation, and other essential skills.
- Market the program to potential employers and develop presentations to promote HANDY Inc.
- Prepare participants for job interviews and conduct follow-up assessments.
- Connect participants with viable job opportunities and support their employment retention and success.
- Provide evaluation, conciliation, and mediation between employers and employees post-job placement.
- Network to promote awareness and enhance the reputation of HANDY Inc programs.
- Conduct intake interviews to assess candidates' suitability for the program and identify potential barriers to performance.
- Hold regular meetings with participants to ensure they are progressing towards their goals.
- Conduct job readiness workshops, host college and career fairs, and other events to facilitate pathways to graduation and post-secondary instruction or employment.
- Provide in-depth career counseling and assist with job searches and placements.
- Design and facilitate weekly peer-group meetings and/or workshops on life skills, job readiness, and leadership development.
- Participate in staff-development training and represent the program in various settings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in social sciences, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2-3 years of experience working with young adults in a non-mandated program in a community-based setting.
- Experience in job development and placement.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present the program and participants persuasively.
- Ability to establish rapport and relate sensitively to a multiracial and multicultural group of young people.
- Experience in planning and conducting training sessions or workshops.
- High energy and motivation to help young people succeed.
- Bilingual skills (Haitian Creole-English) are a plus.

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
