As a new Police Officer at Ferguson Township Police Department, you can expect a dynamic role involving daily patrols, responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, and engaging with the community. On a set 10-hours-per-day, forty-hour work week schedule, you will work closely with experienced officers to gain hands-on training in forensics, law enforcement techniques, and crisis intervention. The Ferguson Township Police Department is officially accredited by the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Program of the PA Chiefs of Police Association. We serve to enhance the quality of life throughout the Township by working cooperatively to preserve the peace, enforce the law, reduce fear and incidence of crime, and provide a safe environment for residents and visitors to our community.
The department's sworn staff includes its Chief of Police, four Sergeants, one Corporal, 14 Patrol Officers, and three Detectives.
PAY AND BENEFITS
As a Prospective Officer, you would earn $30.26 per hour while attending the police academy (if necessary), increasing to $33.64 per hour for the first year as a Probationary Officer. Officers receive annually negotiated pay increases per contract, longevity bonuses after six years of employment, and there are opportunities for promotion within the FTPD based on the Officers' interest and abilities.

ADDITIONALLY, the FTPD will pay for successful candidates to attend the ACT 120 Municipal Police Academy, if necessary (with an agreement that hired officers will repay all or a portion of the cost of the academy, depending on how long they remain employed with the FTPD).

To be hired as a Ferguson Township Police Officer, candidates must be able to meet FTPD and Commonwealth of PA MPOETC (Municipal Police Officer Certification) requirements:
