Overview:
The Assistant Director of Athletics is a full-time, 10-month position and reports directly to the Director of Athletics. Major responsibilities of the position are to assist in the overall operation of the Athletics Department and assist the Athletic Director with any associated responsibilities and act on the school's behalf in this role.
Duties:
· Along with the Director of Athletics, help organize and oversee the athletic program for 5th-8th grades and physical education program for PreK-5th grade
· Assist with scheduling of athletic practices, games, transportation, and game officials
· Work cooperatively with the Director of Athletics to provide leadership to the athletic staff by fostering a collaborative team that holds itself accountable to high degrees of competence, professionalism, respect, and Christian character
· Build a positive rapport and collaborate with staff, students, parents, and administrators
· Actively engage in student life
· Adheres to the Faculty and Staff Handbook
· Work closely with other Houston Junior Preparatory Conference (HJPC) schools and attend HJPC athletic director meetings when possible
· Teach physical education classes and coach athletic teams as needed by the school
· Assist with coordination of programs such as the athletic awards and full-school pep rallies
· Coordination of all activities at Warrior Field
· Additional duties as determined by the Director of Athletics
Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in health, fitness, or education; Master’s degree preferred
-Minimum 3 years working in education
-TEA certified for Physical Education EC-8 (or willingness to attain certification)
-Must have Commercial Driver’s license (or willingness to obtain)
-Strong Christian character
-Strong leadership, management, and team-building skills
-Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings (and weekends when necessary)
-Desire to coach multiple middle school sports
