Job Summary:
Candidates must have 2-3 years’ experience in heavy construction. Experience in concrete, rebar installations, excavations, base prep, forms prep and construction, quality control experience with overseeing concrete slump and hardness testing and reporting-they will not perform the tests, just ensure the tests are done correctly and report on same. The primary responsibility of an Inspector is to “Witness, Document & Communicate”. The Inspector must wear multiple hats, focusing on:
- Environmental Stewardship & Permit Adherence
- Contractor & Public Safety
QUALITY CONTROL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect the placement of all rebar to ensure that project design and tolerances are followed.
- Inspect all concrete placements to ensure that proper concrete is supplied and placed according to project design and industry standard work practices.
- Inspect all backfill operations to ensure the project requirements are followed.
- Inspect, record and or test all mechanical / electrical installations ensuring they meet engineering and operational criteria.
- Ensure project work task completions ‘comply’ by working with the engineer.
- Ensure all work is performed complies with the terms of the contract specifications.
- Evaluate the need for Change Orders and refer information to the work supervisor.
- Track and report progress in support of the work supervisor on available resources, tasks complete and materials, daily / weekly.
- Maintain accurate Daily Field Reports (FDR’s) or logs, Daily Statement of Labor, Material, and Equipment (LM&E’s), punch lists, photos, tests and notifications as current information and future reference.
- Adhering to project schedule, coordinating information of changes, alterations to planned work and other items of interest on the site.
- Represents the company by interfacing with appropriate parties both internally and externally to meet contractual requirements.
- Work professionally with clients, venders, employees, managers, and supervisors to ensure successful completion of projects.
- Follow any other job-related duties/functions as defined in the QP/QCIP.
- Understand the project controlling documents. Drawings, Contract & payment terms, Specifications, QP/QCIP, Industry Standards.
- Verify that approved materials are used.
- Verify that installation of products and materials meet project specifications.
- Keep track of task specific progress and levels of approval.
- Don’t allow products to be placed over unapproved sections of work.
- Work with the contractor supervisor to inspect, agree on quantity and document stages of project competition.
- Keep progress photos and be prepared to share with the lead inspector, supervisor, work supervisor or Engineering.
- Verify the status of all material deliveries to your project site. Lab technicians report to you. If a material delivery is identified to be rejected that is your call not the lab technicians.
- Document the status of all QC related issues in your daily log, including status of resolution.
- Communicate QC issues with the EOR.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Know your project’s permit requirements.
- Monitor field compliance with permit requirements.
- Coordinate and maintain all permit required documentation.
- Have a complete understanding of the PG&E Best Management Practices (BMPs) for environmental compliance and protection of sensitive species and habitat.
- Understand your responsibilities for reporting environmental incidents.
- Identify all environmental related issues and incidents in your daily log.
- Secondary Containment, know when it’s necessary.
- Spill Cleanup kits, know when it is necessary and where they are kept and what’s in them.
- Communication and documentation.
- Inspect all excavations to ensure that the project and environmental requirements are followed.
- Inspect placement of BMPs to ensure project requirements are followed.
Qualifications:
· 2 - 3 years of experience in heavy construction
· Oil and Gas Construction Industry Standards and best practices
