Job Summary:
The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for managing and following up on outstanding accounts receivable from commercial healthcare insurance companies. This role involves handling payment errors, low reimbursements, and denials, initiating appeals, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Receivable Management:
- Contact commercial healthcare insurance companies to follow up on outstanding accounts receivable.
- Follow up on payment errors, low reimbursement, and denials.
- Review insurance EOBs (Explanation of Benefits) and initiate appeals as necessary.
- Document in detail problems, actions, and follow-ups in patient accounts.
- Documentation and Communication:
- Print and mail proper documentation as needed.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all communications and actions taken.
- Compliance and Regulations:
- Stay up to date with all commercial and managed care pricing models, rules, and regulations.
- Support the organization’s Compliance Program by adhering to policies and procedures pertaining to HIPAA and other applicable laws.
- Demonstrate awareness of confidentiality obligations and handle patient information in a HIPAA-compliant manner.
- Attend required training and notify management of any compliance concerns or incidents.
- Additional Duties:
- Perform additional duties as requested by the Supervisor or Management team.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in accounts receivable, medical billing, or a related field.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of medical billing and coding procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications and billing systems.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
