Job Description:
Job Summary: The Invasive Specialist assists patients undergoing Invasive procedures per department policy and procedure. This includes scrubbing, circulating, and monitoring during procedures.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
Checks equipment/instructions needed prior to each procedure to ensure proper functioning.
Records hemodynamic/physiologic wave forms and performs various hemodynamic/physiologic calculations of valve areas, oxygen consumption, assumed FICK cardiac output, and system and pulmonic resistance.
Documents complete patient procedures and all procedural steps in the electronic medical record system. Assessment and reassessment of the patient is clearly and precisely communicated on charting. Documentation meets standards, policies, and procedures.
Performs routine procedures such as 12 lead EKGs. Obtains previous film copies from the digital system as necessary. Assists with room turn over and prep.
Performs sterile table setup and patient preparation following aseptic techniques. Carries out medical and surgical asepsis during all procedures. Consistently opens sterile supplies and set-up for procedures in the appropriate manner. Assists with terminal room cleaning as needed. Follows hospital guidelines regarding the disposal of materials used in the invasive setting.
Assists with monitored patient transportation to and from the Invasive Labs department as necessary consistently following hospital policy.
Performs equipment QC on radiology equipment and all other equipment and other maintenance procedures as assigned.
Scrubs in on procedures with the physicians and assisting with: x-ray controls, panning table, and equipment preparation of the diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Recognizes basic EKG rhythms.
Positions patients safely, pads, and protects bony prominence. Preps and drapes patients correctly for all procedures.
Consistently and appropriately maintains charge sheet for all procedures.
Participates in Radiation Safety principles to ensure patient and staff safety for radiation protection to achieve radiation exposures ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable), for patients, self, and others.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Associates degree in radiology or invasive cardiovascular from an allied health program.
- Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), with limited state radiology license.
- Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire and maintained current throughout employment in Cardiovascular Services.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 60 days of hire and maintained current throughout employment in Cardiovascular Services.
- Must pass Electrocardiography (EKG) examination within 90 days of hire to Cardiovascular Services (Cath Lab & EP).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school in specialized field of cardiovascular technician, EMT, respiratory therapy or radiology.
