Oral Surgery Dental Assistant

Position Overview:
As an Oral Surgery Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting our oral surgeons during surgical procedures and providing top-notch patient care. You will work closely with the entire dental team to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the practice, while also delivering compassionate support to our patients throughout their treatment journey.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the oral surgeon during surgical procedures, including but not limited to extractions, dental implant placements, bone grafting, and soft tissue surgeries.
- Prepare treatment rooms and ensure all necessary equipment and instruments are sterilized and ready for use.
- Take and develop dental x-rays as directed by the oral surgeon.
- Provide chairside assistance to the oral surgeon during procedures, anticipating their needs and ensuring a seamless workflow.
- Educate patients on pre- and post-operative care instructions, ensuring they understand their treatment plans and feel confident in their recovery process.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including treatment notes and medical histories, in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and managing patient inquiries.
Requirements:
- Schedule is Monday through Friday- no major holidays
- Willing to work on both the North Side and South Hill
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to sit, stand, lift, up to 50lbs without assistance and dexterity to hold positions for longer periods of time
- Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification required
- Previous experience in oral surgery or a surgical dental setting strongly preferred
