Purpose of Position
The Specialist’s primary duties include processing weekly payroll and completing certified payroll reports. The Payroll Specialist reports directly to the Human Resources Manager.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent, experience in payroll, accounts payable/receivable and/or the equivalent of formal education. Construction accounting experience preferred.
Working Conditions
Physical Demand: Requires normal/corrected vision and hearing to normal range. The physical demand level is light; typically sits at a desk with intermittent standing and walking. Requires full range of body motion and good manual and finger dexterity. Some stress is imposed due to deadlines and time-sensitive demands.
Equipment Used: Standard office equipment such as personal computer, printer, calculator, fax/copy machine and telephone.
Hours of Work: Full-TimeMonday through Friday from 8am-5pm. Will need to be available to work extra hours during the summer months when it is peak season.
Essential Job Functions
1. Enters and verifies data from time keeping system to computerized payroll system, including employee name, days worked, overtime earnings, if any, date, gross pay, deductions, and garnishments.
2. Creates and distributes paper paychecks and EFT deposits.
3. Runs monthly employee utilization reports.
4. Completes certified payroll.
5. Checks time keeping system daily to correct any errors.
6. Compares federal and state prevailing wages for all pay classifications to determine correct project wages and if zone pay applies.
7. Creates wage templates in Foundation accounting software.
8. Answers multi-line phones.
9. Files paperwork as needed.
10. Assists Controller with audits.
11. Files intents and affidavits timely.
12. Processes W-2 forms yearly.
13. Other duties as assigned.

1. Excellent communication skills when interacting with staff members and customers.
2. Exceptional follow through on all activity.
3. Ability to pay close attention to details and identify/correct mistakes.
4. Manages time effectively and is able to work in a fast paced environment.
5. Working knowledge of accounting basics.
6. Must be efficient in Microsoft programs such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe.
7. Ability to plan, analyze, and organize work that needs to be done.

Pay: $22.00 - $29.00 per hour
