Directional Drilling Coordinator

We have an opening for a Directional Drilling Coordinator based out of our Houston or Midland, Texas location. The Directional Drilling Coordinator is accountable for providing superior directional drilling service for domestic and international customers. This position requires close coordination of efforts with the MWD Operations department. The incumbent meets the specific accountabilities of this position, in part, through the efforts of a team of directional drilling employees and consultants.
Responsibilities also include:
- Coordinate the distribution of directional drilling employees, consultants, equipment, supplies, and third party services to field jobs in order to consistently meet customer service needs.
- Maintain an inventory of drilling supplies and equipment to meet current and forecasted business levels; administer an effective inventory tracking system for field operations.
- Work with the MWD and Operations teams to maintain the facility, including building and yard, as an effective base for administering the directional drilling/MWD service operations.
- Control directional drilling costs by scrutinizing and approving all directional drilling purchase orders, invoices and expense accounts.
- Review and approve well plans prior to distributing to the field personnel and document any possible issues or improvements.
- Conduct and document post well analysis with a focus on improving efficiency and quality of the service provided.
- Manage failure analysis process to ensure the root cause is determined in a timely manner.
- Maximize individual employee and department performance by administering timely and effective recruiting, new employee orientation, performance management, compensation, and training programs.
- Maintain an adequate number of qualified and competent directional drilling consultants to meet the Company’s service needs.
- Participate in a departmental Health and Safety Program which meets legislative, industry and Company standards.
- Assist in developing the department’s annual capital and operating budgets.
- Work with the Sales department to ensure the smooth interaction and coordination of Sales and Operations departments, including participation in pre-spud or well meetings and assisting in the design of well profiles and drilling programs.
- Maintain an awareness of potential business opportunities and provide timely information to the Sales personnel.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
The successful candidate will have a minimum 5 years of experience in Directional/Horizontal drilling. This individual will also have strong administrative skills including the ability to coordinate a diverse, geographically separated workforce comprised of employees and consulting personnel and is proficient with standard computer software.

Pay: $10,500.00 - $11,500.00 per month
