Human Resources (HR) Associate
The Detroit Waldorf School seeks an hourly Human Resources Associate to begin on July 15, 2024.
The Position:
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Human Resources (HR) Consultant to join our team at Detroit Waldorf School. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with the Business Manager, Administrator, and Personnel Committee to oversee daily HR operations aligned with DWS policies and procedures. This is an hourly position with an estimated 20 hours/week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the creation and posting of job openings as directed by the personnel committee, ensuring positions are advertised effectively on job-posting platforms.
- Organize and maintain job applications, resumes, and other employment documentation for review by the personnel committee.
- Facilitate the onboarding and offboarding processes for new and departing employees, ensuring all employment-related documentation is properly managed and archived.
- Assist in conducting Health and Safety training sessions for DWS employees.
- Review at-will employment offers, position descriptions, and compensation schedules across all staff positions.
- Regularly review and update the DWS Employee Handbook in collaboration with the Administrator, incorporating best practices and ensuring compliance with current policies.
- Develop strategic initiatives and practical recommendations to address HR matters and promote compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Provide responsive and personable support to DWS employees, fostering a culture of trust, collaboration, and respect.
- Attend Personnel Committee meetings as required and serve as a consultant to the College of Teachers and Board of Trustees on HR-related matters.
- Act as a primary point of contact for employees reporting HR issues, implementing processes for resolution based on DWS policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in HR consulting or a similar role, with a strong understanding of HR practices and employment law.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in all HR-related matters.
- Proficiency in HR software and tools for managing employee data and documentation.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 per hour
