Registered Nurse (RN) Lactation Consultant

Work hours: Full Time, 40 Hours; 8 hours, 5 days a week with rotating days, including weekends and holidays

Qualifications - External
Here’s What You Need
· Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program
· BSN preferred
· One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
· Lactation Consultant experience preferred
· RN – Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
· BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
· NRP – Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days required
· IBCLC – Lactation Consultant certification within 12 months required
What You Will Do
Function as expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff and physicians
· Serve as clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence
· Produce documentation that initiates, follow and revise patient’s plan of care
· Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes and promote continuity of care
· Review patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding
· Assess outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems
· Participate in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center
