Position Summary:
The Coor- Clinical RN is a registered professional nurse with 24-hour accountability and authority for ensuring quality, coordinated patient centered care with assigned units and/or services and for managing the resources necessary to deliver patient care. This manager is responsible for leading and directing the clinical activity of assigned areas. In collaboration with the nursing and medical staff leadership, plans programming, assesses the therapeutic community, and implements new or revised elements of programming, operations, or structure.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works with Director, Residential Services and Chief Nursing Officer to ensures quality of patient care through active collaboration with unit-based staff, other departments and services, the Chief Nursing Officer, and medical staff.
- Plans, organizes, implements, and coordinates the delivery of nursing care on residential units.
- Recommends performance improvement activities and monitors specific to the unit populations and implements revisions to practice and operations.
- Investigates and responds to incidents including safety, with a focus on systems issues and practice opportunities.
- Conveys information and ideas clearly to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
- Promotes interdisciplinary partnership and consultation of hospital staff and health care team through participation in committees and related activities to ensure appropriate care and services for patients and families.
- Ensures quality patient care follows regulatory requirements, professional standards, facility policies and procedures.
- Functions as a liaison between providers and healthcare team members.
- Facilitates care coordination and throughput of residential patients.
- Collaborate with residential and marketing departments in discussion on admission and program growth.
- Manages a positive patient experience. Leads and ovesees their assigned areas to ensure an outstanding experience for patients and employees by continuously improving the quality of patient care, creating a healthy workplace for staff, and overseeing clinical, and administrative /business functions.
- Works with Director, Residential Services and Chief Nursing Officer to identify strategies to incorporate patient and family centered feedback and care to meet or exceed expectations.
- Incorporates quality tools for monitoring, tracking, and trending patient care needs.
- Provide input on patient satisfaction outcome data and develops action plans to address as needed.
- Determines and manages resources needed to meet patient needs.
- Monitors the need for equipment, proposes acquisition of identified items.
- Demonstrates sound fiscal responsibility with meeting the departmental budgets and holds staff accountable for the efficient use of resources including but not limited to managing flexible staffing patterns to meet patient care needs.
- Cares for patients and self by planning a department work schedule in collaboration with team members that supports safety, appropriate work hours and a healthy lifestyle.
- Expected to lead and develop of direct reports to build strong leadership and communication skills as well as mentorship in daily leadership responsibilities.
- Recruit’s RN candidates for open positions based on desired characteristics and experiences.
- Assists in the orientation content and onboarding of new staff; Participates in new hire clinical orientation process, including CPI training, as requested; Collaborate with Director, Residential Services and Chief Nursing Officer in annual clinical staff competency evaluation/education/activities.
- Participates in scheduling staff in an appropriate mix and number to meet the projected needs of the patients.
- Manages shifts in volume or patient need by adjusting staffing.
- Delivers direct care as necessary. May go into staffing as needed and determined by Chief Nursing Officer.
- Participates in on-call rotation schedule.
- Responsible for accurate and timely payroll approval of designated direct reports/staff.
- Provides timely continuous coaching, conflict resolution, corrective action and professional development for staff.
- Plans and participates in the development of staff.
- Develops and maintains productive working relationships internally and externally by building teams and relationships through mentoring and modeling uplifting and positive communication.
- Supports and encourages the involvement of staff in the development and implementation of evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
- Establishes a safe environment that values feedback, coaching, engagement, and negotiation.
- Participates in the shared governance structure for discussion of data and evidence-based practice for improvement of practice, operations, and programming.
- Collaborates with Clinical Educators to assess educational needs for residential units. Ensures staff are competent and trained on educational, regulatory and safety materials.
- Coaches staff on cultural diversity and address workplace violence and impairment. Creates an environment which recognizes and values differences in staff, physicians, patients and communities.
Position Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
- Associates Degree in Nursing and Two (5) years of professional experience required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Five (5) years of clinical experience required.
- Psychiatric experience preferred.
- BLS Certification required or obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.
- Ability to be flexible with schedule and shifts.

- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-specific and developmentally appropriate care for the spectrum of populations admitted to LCOH.

All candidates extended conditional offer of employment will be subject to will conduct a WebCheck (BCI & FBI Fingerprinting).
