Vet Well Rx is a full-service compounding pharmacy exclusively for animals. We are looking for a Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician that shares in our passion for animals and can deliver the highest quality care, compassion, and customer service!
You will be responsible for compounding medications and overseeing the compounding lab under the direction of the pharmacist. This role has responsibility for overall store knowledge and provides support to all customers. You will be responsible for maintaining customer service per company standards, generating sales, housekeeping, merchandising, cash register operations and loss prevention.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication.
- Day-to-day pharmacy procedures/duties; count and pour; fill and dispense; pharmacy records maintenance; type refills and new prescriptions.
- Responsible for the compounding of medications (i.e. capsules, liquids, topical, chews, injections, ophthalmic) according to doctor’s specifications.
- Responsible for setting up formulas/drugs according to USP 795 regulations.
- Maintains records by recording and filing prescriber’s orders and prescriptions.
- Responsible for in-depth pharmaceutical calculations to prepare formulas and dosing.
- Helps veterinary care providers and patients by greeting them in person or by phone; answering questions and requests; referring complex inquiries to the pharmacist.
· Weigh and measure suitable chemicals to prepare different kinds of compounds including suspensions, creams, solutions, ointments, pastes, and inputs prescriptions into computer system.
· Responsible for pricing of compounds
- Responsible for maintaining and ordering compounding chemicals and supplies.
- Maintains familiarity with procedures/products in other departments.
- Maintains regular, reliable attendance.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

- Requires a working knowledge of compounding equipment (i.e. ointment mill, balance, mixer, autoclave, convection oven, etc.).
- Works as a team player aware of pharmacy surroundings and workflow.
- Must be capable of maintaining standards and reviewing work.
- Must be proficient in the use and operation of computers.
- Extensive knowledge of brand and generic drug names.
- Ability to perform basic pharmacy calculations (i.e. dose and formula calculations).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact with customers on the telephone in a courteous, professional manner using proper telephone etiquette.
- Compounding experience from non-sterile to sterile is preferred.
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of one (3) year’s experience working in a non-sterile compounding lab. A minimum of (1) year's experience working in a sterile compounding lab is also required.
- Sterile compounding certification is required.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) is required.
- Active Texas State Board of Pharmacy Registered Technician
- Complete required Pharmacy Continuing Education.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents. This position requires the ability to take customers request verbally and written. They must be able to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization. Utilizes appropriate phone etiquette.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures, measurements and amounts, proportions, and volume or as necessary to perform the job responsibilities for this position.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of internet & e-mail word processing software and Spreadsheet software. Basic working knowledge of computer operations. Employee is also responsible for training and understanding pharmacy’s current computer systems.
