ACTIVITIES ASSISTANT
Position Overview: The Activities Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for
Fresno CBAS participants. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, physical wellness, and emotional well-being for Fresno CBAS participants. The Activities
Assistant works closely with the interdisciplinary team to create a positive and engaging environment that supports the unique needs of individuals in the program.
Responsible To: Activity Coordinator (AC)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Activity Planning and Execution:
- Collaborate with the Activities Coordinator and healthcare team to develop engaging and personalized activity plans that align with participants' interests, abilities, and care plans.
- Organize and lead group and individual activities, such as arts and crafts, games, music therapy, exercise sessions, and sensory activities, tailored to the diverse needs of participants.
- Assist in transporting and accompanying participants to and from activity areas.
2. Participant Engagement:
- Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that encourages active participation and social interaction among participants.
- Observe and assess participants' responses to activities, making adjustments as needed to ensure maximum engagement and comfort.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to participants, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie.
3. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of participants' activity participation, progress, and preferences.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure proper documentation of participants' responses to activities and any relevant observations.
4. Safety and Assistance:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of participants during all activities, adhering to established safety guidelines and protocols.
- Assist participants with mobility, transfers, and other activities of daily living as needed, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
5. Communication and Team Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with participants, families, and the healthcare team to provide updates on participants' progress and engagement.
- Collaborate with the Activities Coordinator, therapists, nurses, and other staff to integrate activity plans into participants' overall care plans.
6. Professional Development:
- Stay current with trends and best practices in therapeutic activities for the elderly and individuals with various healthcare needs.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to recreational and therapeutic interventions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional relevant certifications or coursework in activities/recreational therapy is a plus.
- Prior experience in organizing and leading recreational activities, preferably in a healthcare or geriatric setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with and engage diverse populations.
- Compassion, patience, and a genuine interest in improving the well-being of older adults and individuals with healthcare needs.
- Basic understanding of participant care and safety considerations in a healthcare environment.
- Physical ability to assist participants with mobility and perform related tasks.
Working Conditions: The Activities Assistant primarily works in the multipurpose area of
Fresno CBAS, and often in activity rooms or designated areas where assigned by Activity
Coordinator. The role will involve standing, walking, and assisting participants with mobility.
Flexibility in working hours may be required to accommodate scheduled activities, which could include monthly outings.

Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour
