Position Summary:
Ash & Elm Cider Co. is seeking Servers for their restaurant and cider bar. These employees will work with management to ensure that customers of Ash & Elm Cider Co. are welcomed, educated on our ciders, and provided with excellent customer service. A positive attitude, ability to engage with customers from a variety of backgrounds, and strong work ethic are required. Weekday and weekend positions are available.
Essential Functions:
- Perform opening and closing duties.
- Ensure that all guests receive exceptional service and resolve any guest concerns or issues.
- Must be familiar with and comfortable accepting cash payments, and making change for customers.
- Maintain a consistent presence in the restaurant during hours of operation.
- Educate customers on craft cider and Ash & Elm Cider Co.
- Foster a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, ensuring guests feel valued and appreciated.
- Assist in maintaining and enhancing the taproom reputation for outstanding service.
- Manage the retail space and be able to provide customers with insight into our products.
- Participating in a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication.
- Maintain a high standard of sanitation and cleanliness.
- Welcome and seat customers in the dining area when there is no host on duty.
- Collaborate with the kitchen and bar staff for prompt and correct delivery of orders.
- Memorize the menu and recommend appetizers, meals, and drinks.
- Be able to accurately describe all Ash & Elm Cider Co. products and menu items by utilizing all internal educational resources.
- Perform regular serving duties, such as taking orders, entering tickets, bussing, and cleaning.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize amongst a variety of important duties.
- Assisting with managing tables by bussing and running food/drinks as needed.
- Follow all application laws and best practices of alcohol service.
- Performing other responsibilities as assigned.
- Must have or get a valid Indiana server’s permit.
Requirements:

- The ideal candidate for this position will have at least 2 years of experience working in the food and/or beverage industry. Being personable and friendly with a variety of customers is integral to the position. Good communication skills and a willingness to work with others, as well as an interest in being a part of a small-business, is also a requirement of the job.

The employee frequently is required to be on their feet, standing or walking/moving briskly, for several hours at a time. The employee is required to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and lift kegs (with help) stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to work hours that exceed 10 PM. The employee must occasionally lift or move a minimum of 20 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
Compensation and benefits
- This position pays $2.13 - $5 per hour.
- Part-time employees have a flexible schedule, time-and-a-half holiday pay, and an employee discount.
