TEACHERS’ AIDE
Position Summary
Assist teachers with implementation of daily schedule and activities for 3-5 year old children. Interact with, and provide a comforting and nurturing environment that is conducive to learning.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
Part-time, non-exempt. M thru F 9:30 am - 1:30 pm schedule, starting July 2024
Compensation:
$16-$18 per hour depending no experience plus $600 Hiring Bonus paid out with 60 days of employment.
Duties:

- Curriculum and Classroom Support
- Assist the teacher in imparting daily activities based on predefined curriculum
- Maintain a safe and organized environment for children
- Assume the teacher’s role in the absence thereof
- Provide children with support during snack and lunch time
- Accompany children to the restroom and assist children in cleaning themselves
- Oversee children to make sure that they are safe during outdoor activities
- Attend PATCH and State ECE workshops as required (Compensation by employer)
- Assist the teacher in ensuring the physical, social, cognitive and educational excellence of children
- Ensure development of positive relationships with children with a view to promote self-esteem and self-discipline
- Provide comfort to distressed children through compassion and tact
Physical Demands:
This position operates in a professional environment and includes working indoors and outdoors.
- Lifting and/or moving items that weigh more than 30 pounds, including children
- Independently ensuring the physical safety of all children, including lifting, carrying, and otherwise physically moving children out of harm’s way
- Tolerating constant noises made by children such as crying, yelling, and laughing
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- 18 years of age or older
- Minimum High School Diploma, Associate college degree preferred
- Provide a Physical Health Clearance Form from his/her Physician (upon being hired)
- Provide a tuberculosis (TB) test
- Provide an F.B.I. fingerprinting and background check (Compensation by employer)
- Experience working with parents and preschool children preferred
- Submit a complete history of employment, including contact names, addresses, and telephone numbers for verification purposes (upon being hired)
- Communicate clearly and effectively in all situations with great interpersonal skills
- Work well independently and with others
- Prioritize demands, juggle multiple tasks
- Able to work under pressure of meeting multiple attention demands made by children and parents
- Demonstrate accurate listening skills and patience
