Job Description:
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a leader in contributing to the development and optimization of Who’s Got Game’s WordPress-based back end application and website. You will work closely with our dynamic leadership team and other developers and designers to create high-quality, scalable, AI-extensible and secure web solutions. This role provides a unique opportunity to grow your technical skills in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with WP-API to connect the WGG backend with front end mobile clients and ensure seamless data flow.
- Grow and maintain the WGG website using WordPress and Elementor, Metform, ensuring high performance and availability.
- Use WordPress plugins like SearchWP, BuddyPress, Jetpack, Push Notifications, The Events Calendar(TEC), WP Mail, and others to extend application functionality.
- Utilize PHP, SQL, JavaScript, TypeScript, and web page tech to implement interactive features and custom solutions.
- Support the infrastructure on AWS Cloud, using both the AWS console and CLI to manage resources effectively. Manage regular instance and DB snapshots.
- Maintain the Wordpress database and make required plugin additions and changes (using our custom plugin)
- Assist in the development of CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate and enhance deployment processes across Development, Staging and Production environments.
- Collaborate, lead and mentor team members on code review, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
- Lead GenAI-based LLM-centered efforts as WGG expands automation capabilities.
- “skin” UI design articles (Figma or equivalent)
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to implement modern solutions.
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of WordPress and WP-API.
- Experience with WordPress plugins such as SearchWP, BuddyPress, Jetpack, Push Notifications, The Events Calendar, and WP Mail.
- Proficient in PHP, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Proficient in HTML technologies - HTML5, CSS3.
- Conversant with MySQL flavor of SQL
- Familiarity with GenAI-based chat bots.
- Familiarity with AWS Cloud services, including both console and CLI usage.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices and technologies (such as Terraform, Pulumi)
- Git (source control, GitHub actions), JIRA (project tracking), Slack & Zoom (team communications)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. Present any relevant certifications.
- At least 3 years of experience in WordPress and API development or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and collaborate on projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
