About the role
This position will be part of the Energy Storage Systems team at magniX, responsible for developing and integrating battery and energy systems within magniX projects. You will be responsible for the modelling and simulation of the energy systems interfacing with the project's stakeholders and suppliers of cells and components.
Primary Responsibilities

Create computational efficient models including electrical, thermal and life cycle for battery cells and battery packs and integrate them into the power train and aircraft models.

Execute simulations as part of the specification and development process using the models created or supplied by the other areas.

Contribute to the design and specification activities with the knowledge gained from the simulations.

Participate in required characterization tests that will create data for the modelling process and validate the completed models.

Develop optimization package to optimize battery designs and architectures for efficiency, weight, thermal management, and safety to meet the stringent requirements of aerospace applications.

Translate high fidelity thermal models into lump parameter models.

Manage and control data created by the simulation activities.

Support applications and testing teams using simulation for troubleshooting findings found on the real hardware.

Prepare technical reports and simulation documentation.

Mentor junior engineers.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering, or related. A Master’s or Ph.D. is preferred.

5+ years experience with complex modelling.

Experience with high voltage traction batteries preferred.

Proficient in Matlab Simulink.

Expert in multi-object design optimization.

Experienced with lump thermal modeling.

Ability to follow principles related to version control and have data organization and analysis skills.

Good data presentation skill.

Good written and verbal communications skills.

This position's approximate base salary range is $135,000 - $160,000 per year, depending on years of experience and level of education.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. Under §120.15, a “U.S. Person” includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees.
