Mental Health Professional Job Description
Competent Correctional Care provides quality patient care services for county detention facilities in Western North Carolina. Currently we are seeking a Licensed Mental Health Counselor-Associate or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Associate to provide mental health services in a 100 bed facility in Boone, NC.
We are looking for a responsible individual to utilize their counseling/assessment skills to manage a generally ambulatory patient group. You must have excellent communication skills as you will interact with other healthcare professionals, detention facility administration, officers, inmate families and most importantly the inmate population. You must have the ability to work with a high level of autonomy while demonstrating excellent assessment skills.
In a secure jail medical unit, you will deliver patient care, review mental health data that is gathered by the officers via questionnaire during the intake process and completing individual mental health assessments, establish treatment plans and work under the boundaries of State Scope of Practice and Guidelines.
Verifying new inmate’s diagnosis and most recent medication/treatment established by their doctor/medical provider, following established treatment plans, and working with the Providers will be a key part of your position as well.
Monitoring patient progress and working with the Providers will round out a quality mental health care program performed on-site in the detention facility.
You should have competence in performing emergency intervention, mental assessment, critical thinking, and documentation skills.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
