This position consists of an unlicensed employee who provides services to maintain the sanitary condition of a 70 bed, privately owned personal care home for the frail elderly. The housekeeping/laundry Aide functions as a member of the Hospitality team and reports directly to the Director or Supervisor of Hospitality.

Hours are 8 am - 4:30 pm
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Clean resident rooms including but not limited to walls, baseboards, furniture, floor, bathroom toilet, sink, tub, closets, windows, doors, wall hangings and paintings/picture frames.
2. Treat all residents, staff and visitors with dignity and respect.
3. Clean all hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, offices, stairways, and other common and/or work areas thoroughly so that facility county and state health standards are met.
4. Use vacuum cleaner on all carpeted areas.
5. Empty wastebaskets, garbage cans and transport trash and other waste to disposal areas, making sure that dumpster lids are shut after use.
6. Sweep and mop floors.
7. Emptying trash cans and laundry bins at the end of your shift, or sooner, if required.
8. Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
9. Keep storage areas and carts well stocked, clean and tidy.
10. Never leave cart unlocked or hazardous chemicals unattended.
11. Keep laundry room door closed and locked at all times.
12. Washing laundry, drying and folding clothes, including sorting, counting and marking as needed, clean linens and personal clothing. Storing them in appropriate places.
13. Wash windows, handrails, walls, doors, door handles.
14. Make sure all exit routes and stairwells are clean and free of debris, furniture or any other items in accordance to fire safety and zoning ordinances.
15. Clean outdoor furniture daily in season.
16. Maintaining cleanliness of linen closets.
17. Demonstrate courtesy in all interactions with residents, visitors, colleagues and supervisors.
18. Ensure residents’ privacy is protected at all times.
19. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Skills required: Ability to effectively communicate and prioritize tasks. Must possess good communication skills. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors and residents. Close attention to detail is a must with the capability to organize tasks. The skill to accept and benefit from critical review is necessary. Ability to deal with emergencies and to work in a crisis environment is requisite. Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid is required but provided. Attendance at all required staff training and education is mandatory.
Educational Experience: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma is preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to read, write and speak English in order to understand and carry out instructions and effectively work with staff and residents.
Essential Functions: In order to complete the above mentioned tasks, the position requires the ability to physically perform job duties and to work in the environmental conditions that require movement throughout the building. Stooping, sitting, bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing steps, as well as other physical demands may be required.
Environment: May be exposed to extreme heat, hazardous chemicals and infectious diseases.
