Position Scope:
Provide engineering support for plant personnel. Some of the duties include but are not limited to: Assisting plant management and personnel in developing and implementation of process improvements, machine & tooling design, assist in technical training, labor estimating, setting strategies and priorities, etc. Coordinate efforts with R&D to provide ongoing support for product submittal process and new product introduction to manufacturing.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Developing, evaluating, improving and documenting manufacturing processes.
- Developing and implementing process control techniques and procedures into manufacturing environments.
- Analyzing manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction and throughput.
- Collaborating with design engineering regarding product tooling and design to ensure effectual production methods.
- Conferring with vendors in determining product specifications and arranging equipment, parts or material purchase and evaluating products according to quality standards and specifications.
- Estimating staffing requirements, production times and relative costs to provide data for operational decisions.
- Working closely with manufacturing department to develop, coordinate and implement technical training for employees.
- Designing and developing manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes and new products and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost.
- Developing justification for capital equipment.
- Creating and maintaining accurate documentation of tool drawings, design concepts, shop orders, and concepts in accordance with the R&D and quality assurance functions.
- Providing engineering support in production departments to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems.
- Supporting company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, government regulations and good manufacturing practices.
Skills and Specifications:
- The ideal candidate will possess significant experience managing multiple capital projects, including the specification/procurement of plant equipment and facilities upgrades, financial appropriation requests, and budget/cost control.
- A LEAN manufacturing background is strongly preferred, with hands-on experience driving continuous improvement initiatives utilizing 5S, standardized work, and visual management concepts to improve productivity and eliminate waste.
- Previous experience in metal fabrication/assembly and coordinating the daily activities of maintenance personnel is a plus.
- Must be a good communicator and possess enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive behavior.
- Familiarity with AutoDesk Inventor or similar CAD modeling applications.
Education and Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related technical degree.
- 5+ years of experience with progressive responsibility in a manufacturing environment.
- US citizenship.
