We invite you to join our team of dedicated colleagues as we build a doctoral internship training program located at an excellent teaching hospital in Northwest Ohio. The focus of our program will be training outstanding clinical health psychologists.
We are recruiting a teaching Psychologist (Psy.D or Ph.D) who will support the program leadership in developing, implementing, and assessing curriculum. The teaching Psychologist will play a significant role in the education and supervision of the doctoral internship training program in our Family Medicine Residency Clinic. The teaching Psychologist will devote their efforts to intern/extern education and/or administration. The teaching Psychologist will present didactics, supervise, evaluate, and provide formative feedback to the interns/externs. In addition, the successful candidate will assess Family Medicine residents’ progress toward achievement of competence in the specialty. The teaching Psychologist must exhibit broad knowledge of and involvement in the program, permitting evaluation of the program and completion of the required program materials. The teaching Psychologist must be approved by the Program Director of the Psychology Internship.
Qualifications:
· Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA approved doctoral program, licensed, or license eligible in Ohio.
· Strong passion for teaching, mentoring and team building skills.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Commitment to providing high quality, evidenced based therapies with health-related concerns, such as diabetes, insomnia, chronic pain, medication adherence, and lifestyle interventions.
· Competence in Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
· Experience in providing Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) model of integrated care using a “warm hand-off model” preferred.
· Demonstrated administrative and scholarly activity.
Responsibilities:
· The successful candidate will serve as a faculty member with roles both within the Division of Psychology (MHP) and within the Graduate Medical Education (GME) program. Based within our Family Medicine (FM) Residency, duties will include:
o Performing observations of FM residents and providing coaching on patient communication skills.
o Clinical supervision of psychology interns and externs
o Teaching didactics on topics related to clinical health psychology, social determinants of health, psychopathology, and basic skills such as Motivational Interviewing, suicide risk assessment, and trauma-informed care.
o Collaborating with colleagues and providing consultation services as needed
o Engaging in program development and quality improvement initiatives
o Serving as behavioral health consultant to PCPs and other members of the primary care team.
o Providing regular rotation and resident evaluation/feedback via resident management system
o Regularly participating in organized clinical discussions, rounds, journal clubs, conferences, and residency committees
o Pursuing faculty development designated to enhance skills, at least annually
o Serving as an advisor and role model of professionalism, quality and patient safety, well-being, educational goal setting, career planning, scholarship, and inpatient patient care based on practice-based learning and improvement efforts
o Pursue scholarly activities including presenting at scientific society meetings, participation in national committees and/or educational organizations, quality initiatives, publications, grants, etc.
· Work schedule includes a combination of clinical supervision and maintaining a clinical caseload (0.5-0.8 FTE), personal direct clinical care and/or resident clinical supervision, administration of clinical duties (MHP) and (0.2 FTE) administration/resident education (GME-Psychology).
