About the role
This role will be part of the Battery Systems Team at magniX responsible for the development and integration of battery and energy systems within magniX projects. You will be responsible for specifying, designing, or overseeing partners and suppliers related to the battery pack design. This position will mix actual pack solution conceptual design activities with technical supervision of the portion of the design being executed by the partners of suppliers. You will be participating in different exciting projects within magniX including our hybrid-electric demonstrator for the NASA EPFD program.
Primary Responsibilities

Specify battery pack requirements from system to components levels

Design lithium battery packaging solutions together with the magniX team or external partners

CAD modeling of battery packaging solutions and installation of the pack within the application platforms

Contribute to planning activities related to the development of the battery packs and their industrialization

Technically supervise the activities being performed by the partners or suppliers

Interface with the other stakeholders in the project regarding aircraft and installation requirements

Participate in discussions regarding certification and demonstration of the means of compliance related to the battery pack

Define tests and create test plans related to the demonstration of thermal runaway containment

Contribute to the expansion of the magniX energy system team, identifying required skills and participating in interviews
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (5+ years)

Level IV: 7-10 years of experience with EV lithium battery pack design

Level V: 10+ years of experience with EV lithium battery pack design

Experience with high voltage and large size battery packs (400V+ and 50kWh+)

Experience with specification and procurement of battery pack components and material

Experience with qualification tests of battery packs
-
Proficient in CAD design tools (preferably Solidworks)

Good written and verbal communications skill

Fast-paced learner of new technology and design solutions

This position's approximate base salary range is $135,000 - $160,000 per year for a Level IV engineer, and $160,000 - $182,000 per year for a Level V engineer. Salary further determined by candidate experience.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.
