The City of Folsom is currently recruiting for two (2)
Associate/Senior Civil Engineers, one will join the
Community Development Department and the other will join the
Public Works Department.
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager or City Engineer, the
Associate Civil Engineer (salary T89: $97,896.84 - $124,012.79 annually)
performs and participates in professional and technical advanced journey level civil engineering activities of a complex nature which may involve both general civil engineering work and/or design/construction of public projects for public works, community development, or utilities department. Incumbents may oversee, monitor, and/or direct the work of lower level personnel.
The
Senior Civil Engineer (salary T95: $113,530.33 - $143,816.82) plans, coordinates, supervises, and participates in complex professional engineering activities including engineering planning and design, construction project management of utilities, buildings, roads, and land development; and plan check activities. Assists in development and management of Capital Improvement Projects, participates in the development and review of professional engineering services and activities for a variety of complex facets of engineering including traffic engineering, transportation and infrastructure related capital improvements, water distribution and treatment, sewer collection, drainage collection, and construction management of utilities, roads, and City owned facilities. Provides engineering support to other departments, which may include special projects involving professional and technical engineering skills relative to assigned area of responsibility. Incumbents may exercise direct and/or indirect supervision over lower level personnel.
DISTINGUISHING CHARATERISTICS
The
Associate Civil Engineer is the experienced/journey level in the Engineer series, fully competent to independently perform the duties. This class is distinguished from the Senior Civil Engineer in that the latter serves as the advanced level in the series performing the most difficult and complex work, including leadwork
The
Senior Civil Engineer is the lead in the series. Positions at this level are distinguished from the lower classification of Associate Civil Engineer by the independence with which they perform their duties of handling the most difficult and complex work and performing lead work.

ASSOCIATE CIVIL ENGINEER
Education:
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Two (2) years of full-time, increasingly responsible experience in professional civil engineering within the assigned discipline.
License, Certificate, Registration Requirements:

Possession of, or the ability to obtain and retain a California Class C driver license by the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California. (Specialty license may be required by position, e.g. Traffic.)
SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER
Education:
A bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Five (5) years of full-time, increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience in the assigned discipline, including significant supervisory experience.
License, Certificate, Registration Requirements:-
Possession of, or the ability to obtain and retain, a California Class C driver license by the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California. Additional certifications may be favorable.

For Plan Check positions, possession of, or ability to obtain and retain, a Plans Examiner Certificate as issued by the I.C.B.O. within one (1) year of employment.

Building Official Certification as issued by the I.C.B.O. within one (1) year of employment is required for Assistant Building Official.
