Job Summary:
Prospero Vascular and Interventional is seeking a skilled and experienced Perioperative/Operative Registered Nurse to join our team at a new office-based clinic and minimally invasive procedural center. The RN will be responsible for providing direct patient care before, during and after evaluations and treatments, maintaining a safe and sterile environment, and assisting with surgical procedures under the direction of the interventional radiologist as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather patient clinical information prior to procedures including patient assessments and patient history
- Prepare the operating room for procedures, ensuring all equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and functioning properly.
- Assist with patient positioning, draping, and prepping, maintaining a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide support as needed, including passing instruments and other supplies safely.
- Monitor patient vital signs, anesthesia levels, and overall condition throughout the procedure, communicating any changes or concerns to the surgical team.
- Document all aspects of patient care and intraoperative events accurately and in a timely manner.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards to minimize the risk of surgical site infections and other complications.
- Assist with patient transport to and from the operating room, ensuring a smooth transition to the recovery area.
- Assist in recovery room patient care following vascular procedures
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing education to enhance clinical skills and patient outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Valid license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of California.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in perioperative nursing, with specific conscious sedation experience in interventional radiology, or Cath Lab preferred.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
- Strong technical skills and proficiency in operating room procedures, instrumentation, and equipment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other members of the healthcare team.
