About Universal Clerk:
Under general supervision in the Linn County Treasurer’s Office, collects and disburses money to the general public for vehicle and property tax transactions; maintains records and issues and transfers legal documents in accordance with the Code of Iowa including, but not limited to, motor vehicle titles, license plates and registrations. Requires heavy public contact behind the window and by telephone. The incumbent must work independently and use own judgment for both routine and non-routine functions according to established guidelines, policies, and procedures. Knows the County’s Customer-Centered Culture principles, the County’s Mission, Strategic Plan and Core Values and demonstrates a commitment to customer satisfaction for all customers on a regular basis.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.

Four (4) years of clerical experience including at least one (1) year processing and accounting for large sums of money.

Learn, apply, and articulate Code of Iowa and departmental policies and procedures to everyday work procedures.

Thorough knowledge in the operation of office equipment including a computer, copier, scanner, printer, calculator, multi-line phone and a fax machine.

Special Necessary Requirements:
Must pass a County physical examination which includes a drug test after offer of employment. Regular work attendance required. Must remain awake and aware of surroundings at all times. Must be able to move or lift material/boxes weighing from 10-50 pounds from floor level to counter height and from the storage room to the work area.
