GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Adolescent Health Educator will facilitate comprehensive evidence-based adolescent pregnancy prevention curricula with fidelity in middle and high school classroom settings, after school programing or in other community settings. The Adolescent Health Educator will provide workshops and other programming related to grant activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide comprehensive evidence-based curricula to school districts across the service area.
- Provide age-appropriate, medically accurate, science-based lessons to young people in a professional, inclusive and non-judgmental manner.
- Discuss reproductive anatomy with the same ease discussing arms, legs, hands, and feet. Understanding of adolescent development and acknowledge the physical, mental and emotional transitions teens are experiencing.
- Collect demographic and evaluation data from workshop and training participants; compile data and prepare submission and periodic reporting.
- Stay current with research trends and best practices in health education.
- Develop and build relationships with individuals, programs, and organizations to expand CAPP/SRAE programming through outreach and networking.
- Provides assistance and/or referrals for youth to obtain access to family planning services, health services or other essential services as needed.
- Maintains current listing of local resources.
- Assist in recruitment, special events, and program planning.
- Work with community partners to plan and coordinate outreach events.
- Participate in staff meetings and community meetings as needed.
- Travel requirements for the service area.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and ABILITIES:
- Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a driver’s license, automobile, and current valid insurance to travel to designation locations.
- Knowledge of Agency’s policies, practices and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and various other business and community contacts.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s degree with at least two years of experience working with adolescents and/or young adults. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Ability to facilitate discussion /teach classes to youth in a variety of settings on reproductive health topics such as reproductive anatomy, contraceptive methods, STI’s, sexual consent, healthy relationships, impulse control, sexual assault, goal setting, and social media use.
- Experience working with youth and demonstrated ability to be inclusive and non-stigmatizing in their role.
