Our doctors are board-certified ophthalmologists, fellowship-trained in diseases of the retina, vitreous and optic nerve as well as treatment of intraocular tumors and uveitis. In our offices, we see patients of all ages, from infants with retinopathy of prematurity to seniors with macular degeneration. We care for patients who have a wide range of conditions, from diabetic retinopathy to ocular trauma to complications of other ophthalmic surgeries.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to, efficient, friendly admission and/or discharge of patients into the Ophthalmology Practice. Responsible for daily patient care and flow. Responsible for maintaining patient charts and other duties as directed by the office manager and physicians. The ability to communicate with patients, surgeons, co-workers, and supervisors is critical. Must be willing to help in all areas.
- Performs technical workups, patient interviews, and special testing.
- Assist physicians in the examination room, accurately transcribe physicians' exam findings.
- Communicates with patients regarding follow-up care, surgeries, procedures, changes in schedule, symptoms, surgery scheduling, etc.
- Maintains and cleans all equipment being used.
- Accompany the physician into the patient examination area to transcribe the findings of the exam.
- Triage for patients, pharmacies, referring physicians.
- Assists in minor surgery.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Efficiently and accurately interviews patients and documents histories.
- Accurately performs:
- Visual Acuity testing
- Complete Medical history
- Tonometry
- Visual Field
- Amsler Grid
- Pupil Exams
- Confrontational Visual Fields
- Cross-train for imaging including Ocular Coherence Tomography, Fundus photography
- Other specialized diagnostic testing as needed
