HANDY INC. is looking for a new Success Coach to join the team!
The Succes Coach reports directly to the Youth Development Manager. The position requires the staff member to act as a job coach to youth with behavioral health problems, who are involved with or at risk of involvement in the juvenile justice system. The success coaches’ goal is to help guide the Youth on the successful path of employability. Identify and assess the Youth strengths and challenges to coordinate and ensure that the Youth obtains the necessary services. Actively work with the Youth to identify and attain goals.
Qualifications:
- A four-year degree in a social service-related field or educational experiential equivalent may be substituted.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ program related experience working with youths involved in the Juvenile Justice System.
- The ability to pass the state and local required background screening clearance.
- Able to work a flexible 40-hour work week, which includes some nights and weekends.
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers, consumers, management, and executive leadership. Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills.
- Works independently, prioritizes tasks, meets deadlines, and accepts professional guidance and supervision.
- Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
- Integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed with a demonstrated passion for HANDY’s mission and commitment to working collaboratively with a management team of senior professionals as well as front-line staff.
- Must always maintain a valid Driver’s License and insurance coverage on a personal vehicle during employment.
Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist the Youth in obtaining employment and paid internships, keeping the employment, increasing opportunities for advancement, and developing a career path.
- Assist the Youth with navigating and accessing community resources, developing their support networks of people, problem-solving abilities, and navigating their social environment.
- Assist the Youth in increasing their educational attainment to enhance their professional goals, employment opportunity, and self-sufficiency.
- Assist and teach Youth financial education/literacy and employability skills including but not limited to developing daily living skills, career planning, work-life balance, self-care, health, housing, soft skills, job searching, resume writing, interviewing and social relationships.
- Assess the need for internal and external services, community resources and make appropriate referrals, including following up with other agencies, caseworkers, and the Youth to ensure needs have been met.
- Transport youth as necessary for various appointments and interviews, including but not limited to program activities and events. You will also be expected to meet all program/youth transportation needs. You are expected to use your vehicle or HANDY vehicles are available and approved by a member of management.
- Assist with recruitment of Employers and/or potential Youth to assure enrollment numbers are met for the existing contract period.
- Recruit businesses and other non-profits willing to hire an intern to work for them in compliance with program requirements.
- Assist in Facilitating Groups of Topics related to Supportive Employment Services, Financial Literacy and Life Skills when needed.
- Administer assessments thoroughly and promptly by contract requirements.
- Enter chronological notes for units billed and services provided. Notes must be updated weekly.
- Always maintain confidentiality, moral codes of conduct, and professionalism.
- Required to attend all planned trainings, staff meetings, and community resource meetings and submit time-off requests according to the organization’s policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
