JOB TITLE: Resident Care Aide
REPORTS TO: Administrator
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

Resident Care Aide Duties and Responsibilities:
Resident Care Aides are responsible for many patient care tasks to ensure that each patient receives the comprehensive and personalized care they need. Some responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
Resident Care Aide Responsibilities:
- Providing great resident care.
- Actively engaging in daily huddle while ensuring rounds are being completed every two (2) hours.
- Actively reporting incidents to higher staff.
- Reviews Resident’s care plans for specialized treatment plans ordered by Physician.
- Recording vitals when needed on shift (ex: blood pressures, o2 readings and weights).
- Regularly providing Report to Med Techs and CNA’s during and end of day for shift Report to next scheduled staff member coming on to shift.
- Provides care for Resident’s personal devices including hearing aids, glasses, prosthetics, adaptive equipment, etc.
- Assist with Resident transportation to activities, mealtimes, and appointments within the facility as well as preparation for out of facility appointments.
- Answering resident calls and determining how best to help them.
- Providing physical support for residents with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, - using the toilet, walking, standing, eating or exercising.
- Ensuring Residents receive appropriate meals by what is documented within internal system.
- Updating Med Tech and CNAs on food and liquid intake and urinary and fecal output and reporting changes to medical or nursing staff (as needed and ordered by Physician).
- Examining residents to detect issues requiring medical care, including open wounds, bruises, or blood in the urine.
- Noting observations of resident behavior, including complaints, or physical symptoms to nurses.
- Stay up to date on facility policy and procedure.
Resident Care Aide Requirements:
- Current CPR Certification
- Current First Aid Certification
- Ability to think and work independently and with direction, and communicate with staff members in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Comfortable using a computer
- Excellent personal hygiene
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including patient care, patience, empathy and compassion
- Effective communication skills, including active listening, writing, speaking and reading comprehension
- Good collaboration and teamwork skills
- Fast and adaptive problem-solving abilities
- Keen attention to detail
- In-depth understanding of patient care policies and regulations
- Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions
- Comfortable working with specific populations of residents, including elderly patients and those with special needs
- Physical strength and stamina
