Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Finance (ADOF) supports the hotel’s Director of Finance (DOF),
implements and monitors effective controls and procedures, prepares accurate and daily
reporting and analysis, and manages the hotels’ accounting staff.
Core Responsibilities:
- Maintain property standards, reporting, controls, and evidence of review
- Manages accounting staff performance
- Train accounting staff as needed
- Help DOF manage the hotel’s accounting cycle o Make sure the hotel’s Routing Pack is prepared and reviewed daily o Verify that reconciliations and Revenue Tests are prepared daily and given to DOF o Prepare daily bank reconciliations o Prepare hotel payroll on a bi-weekly basis and have DOF review o Assist DOF in reconciling bank accounts and balance sheets accounts o Complete month-end tasks as directed by DOF
- Participate in monthly department meetings at the property, Sales, and
Marketing weekly meetings, MOD Program, and weekly staff meetings
- Perform other duties as may be required by the DOF, General Manager, or
Vice President of Property Accounting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
- Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3 years of experience in hotel accounting
- Ability to work independently, prioritize work and ask for clarification when needed
- Strong work ethic
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ten-key calculator
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to take initiative, and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Physical Requirements:
- Sit for extended periods of time
- Lift approximately fifteen (15) pounds
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, pulling, pushing, listening and hearing ability and visual ability
- Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, ten- key calculator, printers, multi-line tone phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and other office equipment as needed
