Senior Analytics Engineer - Remote at Author Health

We’re in search of a Senior Analytics Engineer who is technically adept and carries a deep-seated passion for revolutionizing healthcare through data. What You’ll Do:
- Craft and Scale Data Architectures: Design data models optimized for intricate analytics, ensuring our data infrastructure can handle the complexities of healthcare data seamlessly.
- Elevate Our Analytics Capabilities: Develop and refine our analytics codebase through your expertise in dbt and BigQuery, ensuring robustness and reliability in our data operations.
- Ensure Data Integrity and Quality: Maintain the highest quality in our software by implementing automated testing, profiling, and debugging, safeguarding the integrity of our data.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with data scientists, product managers, and engineering teams to delve deep into analytics and reporting requirements, translating complex data needs into actionable insights.
- Drive Data-Driven Decision Making: Become an expert in our business model and the key metrics that drive our success, ensuring these metrics are accurately defined, calculated, and leveraged for strategic decision-making.
- Champion Data Documentation and Improvement: Ensure all our data assets are meticulously documented, from schema descriptions to comprehensive architecture overviews, while also identifying opportunities to enhance our data analytics systems and processes.
What We Expect From You:
- Empathy and Humility: A high level of empathy and humility, essential for understanding the unique challenges faced by our senior patients.
- Healthcare Data Expertise: Experience with healthcare datasets and a deep understanding of common healthcare data types (clinical, claims, pharmacy, EHR, genomic, etc.).
- Technical Proficiency: 3-5 years of experience in an analytics/data engineering role, with a strong foundation in dbt, SQL, and cloud platforms (Snowflake, GCP, Azure).
- BI Tooling Expertise: Extensive experience with modern business intelligence tools (Mode Analytics, Looker, Tableau) and a proven track record in data warehousing and optimization.
- Data Modeling Skills: Demonstrated experience with data modeling techniques (dimensional modeling, star schema, etc.) and a knack for problem-solving and troubleshooting.
Nice to Have:
- Regulatory Knowledge: An understanding of healthcare data privacy regulations, such as HIPAA, and experience in implementing secure, compliant data pipelines.
- Healthcare Technology Familiarity: Knowledge of healthcare technologies (FHIR, HL7, claims, etc.) is a plus, as is experience or interest in value-based care, alternative payment models, or population health.
