Candidates should possess a high degree of technical competency and the ability to work equally independently and as part of a team. Requirements include:
- BA or BS in Accounting
- CPA, CIA, and/or CISA certification preferred, but not required
- Seven plus years of experience in public accounting, internal audit, or an accounting role in a public/private corporation or non-profit organization
- Experience with financial, operational, and/or regulatory compliance audits
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proven leadership and willingness to lead others
- Proficient Excel skills
- Solid analytical skills and attention to detail
- Comfort with asking questions to get answers
- Ability to make progress in ill-defined and unclear projects
- Rich critical thinking skills
- Ability to take direction and apply to different situations
- Passion and commitment to providing quality client service
Job Functions May Include:
- Performance of walk-throughs and internal control and risk assessments
- Completion of substantive testing to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)
- Execution of audit tests to determine the appropriateness/effectiveness of the business control environment (which includes data analysis, evaluation of transactions, and observation of processes)
- Development of relationships with client stakeholders and external auditors
- Identification of gaps, determination of root causes, and recommendation of remediation strategies
- Documentation of process flows and audit results in workpapers that are clear, concise, organized and in compliance with client standards
- Supervision of team members on audit projects
- Implementation of audit best practices
- Identification and implementation of business process improvements
- Participation in training
