The elementary special education teacher will support students by providing differentiated academic services both individually and in small groups as well as in the general classroom setting. The special education teacher will ensure all students are receiving and are supported in accessing rigorous, standards-based instruction through collaboration with grade-level teams and colleagues.
Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to,
-Plan and implement rigorous, curriculum-based lessons aligned to Massachusetts State Frameworks
-Assess student performance and lesson effectiveness using formative, summative and project-based assessments and review and utilize data to inform and evaluate instruction, monitor student progress and create measurable academic goals
-Effectively differentiate services and support for students with a wide variety of academic, social and emotional needs
-Proactively communicate with students’ families to establish a partnership in support of student goals and contribute to school-wide effort to increase and maintain positive family engagement
- Regularly meeting with colleagues and relevant stakeholders to plan for appropriate services and modifications in support of students
- Participation in Individualized Education Plan/Program (IEP) meetings, including the collection and dissemination of relevant data necessary to drive decision-making during this progress
- Complying with school, district, and statewide policies and regulations
Requirements for this position include:
- Bachelor's degree
- Active Massachusetts teaching licensure in appropriate areas
- Proficient in English; Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
