Day Report Officer
Definition of Work: This is professional community corrections position involving the organization and supervision of casework services of offenders and staff in a single county. The Day Report Supervisor is responsible for the management of the office, staff and clients in the center.
Examples of Work Performed:
- Provide ongoing supervision and services to assigned caseload of community corrections offenders
- Provide supervision of the employees of the center and manage the day to day operations
- Conduct assessments prior to the offender’s sentencing into prospective community corrections program. Gather information about offender’s background and circumstances; provide written reports summarizing the results of each assessment
- Complete follow-up and exit LS/CMI assessments with each offender on the caseload
- Maintain contact with community resources in order to arrange referrals and services as necessary
- Member of Drug Court Treatment Team and Family Treatment Court
- Prepare reports, correspondence, and documents as necessary; maintain records of contacts with community corrections caseload
- Arrange and conduct case planning meetings with the offender, DRC treatment staff, and probation officer
- Conduct urine drug screening
- Enter data into the WVOCMS and the CCIS
- Maintain an active working relationship with the Probation Department, Home Confinement, Department of Health and Human Resources, and the Drug Court Coordinator
- Desirable Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
- Ability to function as an effective supervisor of employees
- Knowledge of principles of community corrections work and related court procedures
- Knowledge of state laws, rules and cases affecting community corrections work
- Ability to collect and analyze investigative materials
- Knowledge of local community structure and resources
- Ability to maintain records and make oral and written reports
- Knowledge of computer including Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of the job descriptions of the various community corrections staff
Required Education: Relevant bachelor’s degree; one involving course-work equivalent to a major whose subject matter of whom is directly applicable to community corrections work (for example, criminal justice, counseling, corrections, psychology, and social work).
