Job Title: Inpatient Coder - Remote

Position Overview:
As an Inpatient Coder, you will play a crucial role in accurately assigning diagnosis and procedure codes to reflect the care and services provided in various healthcare settings. Your attention to detail and commitment to compliance with official coding guidelines will contribute to the success of our healthcare delivery network.
Responsibilities:
1. Accurate Inpatient Coding:
· Assign ICD-10-PCS codes with a coding error rate of less than 5% in accordance with established guidelines for reimbursement and statistical data.
· Maintain a quarterly minimum coding accuracy of 95%.
2. Knowledge and Compliance:
· Experience with Inpatient Acute Care Coding, National Correct Coding Initiative guidelines, and other medical necessity/compliance guidelines.
· Follow department workflow for service type, addressing compliance reviews.
3. Productivity and Collaboration:
· Prioritize coding functions to ensure timely coding of records within the facility-defined timeframe.
· Collaborate with the team to exceed DNFC goals while maintaining positive employee relations.
4. Communication and Documentation:
· Submit physician queries for documentation clarification.
· Refers coding questions to auditors, managers, or leads, demonstrating independent decision-making when needed.
5. Continuous Improvement:
· Attend educational webinars, conference calls, and coding seminars, actively participating in formal and informal coding discussions.
· Complete all assigned compliance courses within the assigned period.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience: 2+ years of coding experience
- Certifications: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred
