Job Summary
Animal Defense League’s Maintenance Technicians are an important part of the facilities maintenance team. This position includes a shared responsibility for the care and upkeep of ADL’s buildings, property, and utility systems. Associated tasks may include such things as landscaping/gardening; minor plumbing, electrical, and HVAC service; and moving/loading supplies; etc. The ideal candidate will work independently and responsibly while observing all health and safety guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Complete scheduled inspections by deadline as main support function of the PM program;
2. Help oversee pest control activity within campus;
3. Maintain and submit clear and accurate reporting as required by inspection schedule;
4. Complete tasks assigned by the supervisor within the maintenance request system;
5. Perform basic manual repairs to utility systems when necessary;
6. Appropriately use and maintain all maintenance tools, supplies, equipment, and vehicles;
7. Oversee community service program to leverage volunteer hours for grounds keeping;
8. Assist in preparing, equipping, and supervising group volunteer projects;
9. Conduct general maintenance procedures or related tasks as assigned by the foreman;
10. Provide supervision to Community Service participants as needed or required by the foreman;
11. Maintain personal appearance and behavior that meets the expectations of ADL’s mission, values, and relationship with the community, including clients, volunteers, employees, supporters, and animals.
Qualifications
1. Must be at least a high school graduate and possess a valid driver’s license.
2. 3 yrs reference-able experience in general maintenance/support position required.
3. Knowledge of small engine repair, electrical, plumbing and carpentry highly desired.
4. Must be in good physical condition, able to sustain demanding manual labor.
5. Certification related to the field a plus, for example:
a. HVAC or utilities certifications, electrical or plumbing.
b. Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification
Working Conditions
This position requires working both indoors and outdoors in all weather; contact with associated chemicals, cleaners, solvents, and fuels; contact with animals in residence, many with unpredictable behavior; exposure to the noise, waste, and odor associated with animal shelter populations.
Physical Requirements
This position requires good physical health and conditioning, and may require: standing for extended periods; lifting or moving of heavy objects; repetitive tasks with few breaks; long hours; and other physical demands associated with heavy manual labor.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
