The Assistant Vice President, Medical Group Coding (AVP-MGC) will serve as the system leader for professional fee coding. The AVP will ensure compliance with Federal and state guidelines by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of provider-based coding and charge capture. In addition, the AVP-MGC will act as a liaison/reference between Corporate Coding Staff, Compliance Department Staff, employed providers, affiliate staff, Physician Advisors, Medical Group Directors, and other departments as needed.
The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking, self-starter who has a tactful and politically savvy leadership style with exceptional relationship-building and management skills, and superior knowledge and expertise in professional fee coding. Candidates will possess a quality improvement mindset and a commitment to service excellence. Candidates must be skilled navigators of complex organizational and leadership structures with multiple business units and possess a sophisticated understanding of the drivers, trends, and forces that impact health care.
This role works on-site in Oceanport, NJ. Qualifications for this role include at minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree is required. Master's degree in healthcare, business or related field is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist Professional (CCS-P) is required and RHIA certification is highly preferred.
- Five (5) years management experience in Professional (Pro-fee) Medical Coding and three (3) plus years hands-on professional coding experience for a large health care facility, clinic, or consulting organization. Experience working in a large, integrated health care system preferred.
- Experience in working within EPIC is required and prior experience with E/M physician auditing is preferred.
