Job Description Summary
The Manager, Absence role is a manager-level role on the Total Rewards team in Human Resources. This role is responsible for the administration of the organization’s leaves of absence policies, paid time off benefits, and disability benefits in compliance with all federal, state, and local leave and sick leave laws, ordinances, and regulations. This role also leads the design, testing, deployment, and usage of internal HR and external administration systems, processes, and procedures to ensure the accurate, timely, and efficient delivery of the organization’s absence policies, paid time off policies, and disability benefits. This role serves as the internal subject matter expert for other team members and resolves complex or escalated absence-related issues and questions.

Job Description
The Manager, Absence will:
Manage and lead the administration of the organization’s leaves of absence policies, paid time off benefits, and disability benefits.
Manage and lead the implementation of systems, processes, and standard operating procedures for the successful and effective management and delivery of leaves of absence policies, paid time off benefits, and disability benefits.
Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and regulations impacting absences, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, and Chicago Paid Leave and Paid Sick and Safe Leave Ordinance.
Manage and lead improvement opportunities in administration, systems, processes, and procedures.
Manage and lead third-party vendor partners, systems, and administrative services.
Manage and lead the resolution of all employe and manager questions and issues.
Provide subject matter expertise and education on leaves of absence, paid time off benefits, and disability benefits.
Maintain and update plan materials, benefits guides, and participant communication.
Maintain and update the annual compliance and administration calendar, ensuring quality and timeliness.
Support management and execution of other Total Rewards programs as needed.
Reporting Relationships
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business required. Will consider a bachelor’s degree in another field as long as candidate has experience in relevant space.
Minimum 5 years of leaves of absence, paid time off benefits, and disability benefits experience, including compliance and administration, in roles of increasing responsibility
Demonstrated knowledge of laws and regulations governing leaves of absence, paid leave, and paid sick leave
