Hayes Hunter PC is a boutique law firm with a diverse practice, including business, real estate, probate, and intellectual property litigation and transactional work. Our growing law firm is looking for a highly motivated and self-efficient paralegal to join our team.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Drafts discovery, pleadings, policies, procedures, communications, presentations, and other documents for attorneys.
- Finalizing and electronically filing and servicing documents and seeing to issuance and service of citation and subpoenas and coordinating with process servers
- Calculate and calendar all deadlines, depositions, hearings, and docket control orders.
- Coordinate depositions and mediations.
- Must be capable of using advanced Microsoft Word skills such as automated Tables of Contents, automated formatting through styles, creation of automated Tables of Authorities, and more.
- Research Texas Secretary of State, Texas Comptroller, Lexis Nexis and Harris County Appraisal District records and pulling relevant information and documents.
- Send correspondence and interact with clients .
- Builds and maintains status reports, logs, and indexes in Microsoft Excel for attorneys.
- Proofs documents for accuracy in terms of grammar, spelling, and formatting.
- Obtain, review, and analyze documents or any other relevant information.
- Preparing deposition, mediation, and trial notebooks, exhibits, and witness files.
- Post judgment matters, including issuance and recording of abstracts of judgment; issuance of writs of execution and corresponding with constables’ offices regarding service.
- Preparation of engagement letters and setting up matters for new clients.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years legal experience, ideally in litigation .
- Degree from an accredited university and/or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
- Thorough knowledge of legal principles, legal research techniques, and legal terminology.
- Above average proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Time management skills, ability to multi-task and the ability to work with all levels of employees.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
