Job Overview: Join Palletized Trucking as a Diesel Technician/Mechanic to ensure our fleet remains in top operational condition. You will be responsible for completing inspections, performing preventive maintenance, and correcting vehicle deficiencies while adhering to federal and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections to assess vehicle condition.
- Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Utilize diagnostic computers to identify and address engine and service light issues. Diagnose and repair electrical components using wiring diagrams.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform regular preventive maintenance to ensure equipment availability and reliability.
- Repairs and Adjustments: Remove, repair, adjust, overhaul, assemble, disassemble, and replace major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, including power and drive trains, electrical systems, air conditioning, fuel systems, emission controls, brakes, steering, and hydraulics.
- Performance Verification: Conduct test drives to verify vehicle performance and ensure safety standards are met.
- Compliance: Ensure all work complies with federal and state vehicle requirements, including engine testing and safety standards.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of services and repairs using computer workstations.
- Cost Management: Utilize warranties and evaluate service and parts options to manage costs effectively.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in diesel mechanics.
- Skills:
- Technical understanding of diesel engines and systems.
- Proficiency in diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams.
- Attention to detail and thoroughness.
- Strong verbal communication and documentation skills.
- Dependability and reliability.
- Tools: Personal tooling required.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- State Inspection License.
- CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is a plus.
- Experience operating an alignment machine is a plus.
Compensation:
- Pay: $21.00 - $32.00 per hour
