Summary of Position:
We are looking to hire a pharmacist to provide pharmacology education, disease state education, direct patient care, and medication management to improve the health status of the patients served. You will be dispensing both prescription and over the counter medication to customers. You will also be responsible for recording and verifying patient information while maintaining confidentiality pertaining to PHI (Patient Health Information) by following HIPPA guidelines.
The pharmacist will dispense drugs prescribed by licensed independent practitioners (e.g., physicians, nurse practitioners, dentists) according to Federal and NC law and regulations. Advise licensed independent practitioners on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications. Provide patient education and counseling as required by NC law, regulations, and professional standards. This position is responsible for timely and accurate interpretation and processing of prescriptions presented by patients. You must be able to maintain organization and cleanliness of workstation and remain compliant with state/federal regulations. To be a successful candidate, you must display excellent communication skills and an affinity for great customer service. You must be comfortable with working in a fast-paced work environment.

Spanish speaking.Education: Graduated from accredited university/college with a PharmD (preferred) or bachelors.Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain current knowledge of the legal responsibilities and tasks required by the NC Board of Pharmacy.
- Discharge all the responsibilities and tasks required by the NC Board of Pharmacy.
- While on duty at the pharmacy, check all prescriptions dispensed for safety and accuracy.
- Record and report all medication errors as required by law, regulation and United Health Centers’ policy.
- Help maintain a prescription dispensing system that conforms to state laws and NC Board of Pharmacy regulations.
- Provide consultation and advice to medical practitioners about pharmacotherapy.
- Work with patients and United Health Centers’ medical providers to determine the medications, strengths and doses new and established patients are currently taking.
- Assess patients’ medication regimens for possible interactions and adverse side effects.
- Promptly report to the prescribing provider any medication problems found while working with patients and/or reviewing medical records.
- Provide one-to-one patient education and counseling on medication use/misuse, treatment adherence, drug interactions, and side-effects.
- Help maintain an adequate drug inventory, paying particular attention to the most economical purchasing opportunities.
- Obtaining information to help fill prescriptions.
- Collaborate with the finance staff to ensure proper billing of third-party payers on a timely basis.
- As assigned, provide administrative and clinical supervision to the pharmacy technicians.
- Participate in quality improvement activities (e.g., attending and participating in provider meetings, making suggestions for formulary changes, etc.)
- The supervisor may assign other appropriate tasks from time to time.
