Mission Animal Hospital is hiring Veterinary Technicians! Certified, experienced, and tech students welcome. Mission offers appointments, urgent care, general practice surgery, and high volume spay/neuter surgery. Mission is the Midwest’s only full-service nonprofit veterinary hospital serving primarily low-income pet owners. We work hard every day to help sick pets and educate owners so that pets and families can stay together.
JOB DETAILS:
- Full-time, non-exempt (hourly)
- $22-28/hour, DOE
SCHEDULE:
- Schedule rotates on a six-week basis with a combination of 4-10 hour shifts per week and 3-13 hour shifts per week. 1 weekend (Saturday-Sunday) out of every 3 is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patient triage, observing and reporting on the behavior and condition of animals
- Surgical and sedation preparation and monitoring and recovery
- Performing medical procedures, for example: placing feeding tubes, securing urinary catheters, placing advanced nerve blocks, transfusions, IV pain medications, etc.
- Administering medications, vaccines, and treatments
- Providing discharge, follow-up or educational client communication
- Driving hospital flow and efficiency by delegation to Veterinary Assistants
QUALIFICATIONS FOR ESTABLISHED TECHNICIANS:
- Certified Veterinary Technician, or previous on-the-job training
- Developed communication skills, professionalism, and ability to collaborate with a team
- Commitment to hospital core values of compassionate, accessible care
QUALIFICATIONS FOR STUDENTS IN TECHNICAL SCHOOL:
- >50% schooling completed
- Internship and/or clinic experience preferred
- Developed communication skills, professionalism, and ability to collaborate with a team
- Commitment to hospital core values of compassionate, accessible care
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
- Formalized and personalized on-boarding program, focusing in each service area
- Technician Skill Levels 1, 2, and 3; raises after passing each level
- CE allowance and licensure reimbursement
- Leadership opportunities as they become available in inventory, training, safety, outreach partnerships, operations, and more
- Support, training, and flexibility throughout completion of schooling and license certification
