This position is Tuesday-Friday from 2:30PM to 11:00PM AND on Saturday from 6:30AM to 3:00PM.QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Such alternative to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptableREPORTS TO: Building PrincipalJOB GOAL: To provide the students with a safe, clean, comfortable and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide preventive maintenance on a regular schedule for all motors, mechanical equipment and heating utility systems as required to keep them in proper operating condition at all times. In addition to the following: 1. Keep all firefighting equipment in first class order and readily accessible. Know how to use and operate firefighting equipment in the building in case of emergency.2.
Know how to use and maintain power scrubbing polishing machines, wet and dry vacuums, power motors, snow blowers and other similar equipment.3. Responds to requests from a school principal or teachers in the school.4. Cleans all custodial equipment and tools returning them to their storage area after each use.5. Informs head custodian or principals when tools or equipment are lost or damaged beyond repair to insure the availability of equipment and tools when necessary for custodial operation or building maintenance.6.
Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat and clean at all times.7. Shovels, plows and sands walks, driveways, parking areas and steps as appropriate.8. Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.9. Sweeps classrooms daily, dusts furniture and performs other duties outlined in his custodial route schedule.?10.
Cleans custodial corridors after school each day and during the day when their condition requires it.11. Scrubs, hoses down and disinfects toilet floors daily and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.12.Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year and more frequently if necessary.13. Keeps the grounds free from rubbish.14. Performs such yard keeping chores as grass cutting, tree trimming and the like as necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.15.
Keeps all floors in a clean an attractive condition and in a good state of preservations.16. Cleans all chalkboards at least once a week.17. Makes minor building repairs.18. Reports major repairs needed promptly to the head custodian.19.
Maintains on a regular schedule all motors and other mechanical equipment requiring scheduled servicing.20. Reports immediately to the principal any damage to school property.21. Remains on the school premises during school hours and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his attendance required by the principal.22. Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.23.
Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep and repair.24. Moves furniture or equipment within building as required for various activities and as directed by the principal.25. Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste.26. Reports major repairs needed promptly to the head custodian.27.
