As a Estimator/Engineer with Unlimited Telecom Inc , your main responsibility will be to maximize the award of profitable contracts by leading estimating and bid administration activities. You will work closely with the Project Management team to ensure that our customers are provided with the highest quality service.

A typical day could see you responding to an RFP, holding client meetings, working with project teams during installation, or planning for the closeout of a project.
Responsibilities
- Prepare cost budgets based on drawings, specifications, division 2700 & 2800 and other relevant materials.
- Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- Compute and communicate costs through analysis of labor, material, and time requirements.
- Obtain best product prices from manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors.
- Prepare estimates using company estimation software.
- Provide detailed scopes of work for each estimated task.
- Prepare Electronic Takeoffs for every estimate where cable footages are calculated.
- Work with the CAD and Design Department to create a design package for each estimate as required.
- Assure the accuracy of bid packages and drawings prior to delivering to client.
- Perform Kick-Off meetings with Operations to ensure all necessary “scope of work” information has been passed on to the Project Manager/Supervisor.
- Provide support for existing or potential customers with the utmost professionalism whether on the phone or in person.
- Coordinate with other estimators on multi-discipline quotes to ensure that each trades Scope of Work does not overlap and that there are no scope-gaps.

Desired Experience
- Previous and progressive experience as an Estimator in the low voltage industry with demonstrated success completing complicated estimates/designs involving access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, IP networks, intercom, Audio & Video and/or structured cabling.
- Experience estimating projects worth between $250K-$800K or larger
- Experience working with some or all the following systems is preferred:
- Access Control - LenelS2, Verkada, Avigilon
- CCTV – Bosch, Avigilon, Axis
- Intrusion – Bosch, DCS, DMP, Radionics
- Voice/Data - Commscope, Panduit, BerkTek, General, Belden,
- Fiber Optics - Corning, eABF - Duraline, Commscope, Berktek, Sumitomo
- Strong computer skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Mac OS, and project/quoting software
- Post-secondary education in electronics, electrical, or equivalent would be considered an asset
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
Requirements
- Minimum of 5-10 years of Commercial and/or Public Works experience estimating low voltage systems projects of increasing complexity required.
- Highly technical, with the ability to evaluate situations, utilizing logical and decisive reasoning.
- Excellent attention to detail and well organized.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Bluebeam.
- Must be dependable and reliable.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to quote Structured Cabling systems using Unlimited Telecom Inc’ estimating software.
- Must be able to multi-task in an active and dynamic environment.
- Must be able to manage personal work schedule and accurate allocate time worked on projects.
- Ability to maintain professionalism in potentially adverse situations.
- Assure each quote submitted meets the margin requirements by department and geographical market.
- Review all estimates to ensure all quoting requirements are met, and that Unlimited Telecom is maximizing gross profit, with consideration to customer needs.
- Maintain and stay current with Voice/Data/Fiber/OSP Cabling Systems knowledge.
- Communicate with Senior Management regarding any department related issues, concerns, objectives.
