The General Ledger Accountant assists the CFO with the financial, human resources, and administrative affairs of the organization, maintaining and managing General Ledger activities, sub-ledger details and payroll for various companies within the organization. Will cooperate with Administration and Human Resources Manager to assure compliance and consistency.
Essential Functions
· Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions including A/P and A/R
· Responsible for payroll and related tax reporting
· Prepare and book journal entries related to monthly, quarterly , and yearly close
· Reconcile bank accounts
· Reconcile and process intercompany billings and receipts
· Prepare and issue appropriate tax forms including: W-2s and 1099s
· Ensure timely filing of all tax returns and payments
· Record monthly journal entries for daily revenue
· Prepare bank deposits and deposit cash
· Reconcile Petty Cash
· Prepare expense accruals
· Assist with HR duties as needed
· Prepare HR reports as needed
· Maintaining files, both electronic and physical
· Assist with admin duties as needed
· Attend meetings and training sessions as necessary
· All other duties as assigned
Job Specifications
· Fundamental understanding of accounting principles & procedures and US GAAP
· Strong mathematical skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to recognize and analyze balance sheet accounts
· Ability to handle stress under pressure
· Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
· Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
· Strong organizational & analytical skills as well as attention to detail
· Strong knowledge of computer programs including: Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook; prefer knowledge of Sage-100 accounting software
· Must have considerable knowledge with basic accounting principles (i.e. journal entries, debits, credits, etc.) and accounting functions.
Physical Demands
· Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas
· Must be able to sit, type, use 10-key, answer and communicate using telephones, write correspondence and other office-related duties for extended and repeated periods of time
Qualifications
· Bachelors degree in Accounting
· Minimum 5 years related experience
