Job Mission
As the A/R Specialist your role is to focus on the billing and collection functions and for resolving outstanding issues. Reviews and follows up on any and all unpaid claims and ensures prompt payment. Specifically, you are responsible for calling all insurance companies and utilizing online resources to check claim status, resubmit claims as necessary via paper or electronically, file appeals, track denial trending, resolve denials, and ensure maximum revenue capture.
Essential Job Duties
- Payment posting, A/R follow up, basic medical coding knowledge, and insurance verification/eligibility
- Proper follow-up is performed on the back-end aspects of the revenue cycle process related to reimbursement, including projects, problem and issues escalation, and research
- Handle collection of client portions of bills (copays, deductibles, uninsured, etc), as well as collect reimbursement from insurance plans.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve all rejected, denied, and outstanding insurance claims.
- Outreach to patients to obtain missing insurance information and other demographic information.
- Coordinates with all self-pay clients regarding outstanding balances.
- Perform A/R reconciliations and audit of claims to ensure compliance.
- Provide quality assurance and training of offshore teams
- Interact with customers including routine meetings and / or email communication
Required Skills and Abilities
- Adaptability when dealing with constantly changing processes, computer systems and government programs
- Professional experience working with state and federal programs
- Exemplary communication skills, both orally and written, to a variety of individuals
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to function and make appropriate decisions in a fast paced environment
- Experience with EMR/EHR such as CentralReach, WebABA, STAR, EPIC, Meditech, etc.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, ACA and EMTALA regulations
Education, Experience and Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience within the healthcare industry
- Ability to demonstrate effective staff training
- Working knowledge of Google & Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn computer applications
- Able to pass a background check and qualified to work in the US
